What Freedom Looks Like

I chose this advertisement because I felt I could show the most emotion in my drawing through its story. I started the drawing in regular pencil, then colored it in with colored pencils, then used Sharpie markers for the colorful highlights in the water. This drawing shows what I think it would feel like to be free for the first time. I imagine it’s like seeing colors for the first time ever, which is what I depicted. Outside of the water this man, Ben is still a slave and everything is black and white, while everything is in color and vibrant inside of the water, where Ben is free. The color highlights in the water represent emotion and feeling rather than anything physical.
