I chose the advertisement I did because it evokes a very strong image of a strong man. James is strong because he had to run many miles in the dark over unknown territory to escape. I drew him tall, thin, muscular and determined. The process I used was sketching and shading in pencil on paper. First I drew a gesture of a man running and then refined it. Then I added the detail. Then I drew the background and colored it then I colored the sky. I made sure to shade everything. To me this piece represents a man running physically and spiritually through the night towards his own freedom. Perilous as his journey may be James is determined to cast off all that bound him to a master other than himself.
