Here’s how you enter:

1. Pick a night (or two, or three) to attend our Halloween events.

2. Bring your digital video device (but not your tripod) and record footage.

3. Edit it and post the finished product (no more than three minutes) on YouTube.

We will judge Blaze videos and Legend videos separately. If you attend both events, consider creating TWO videos, one for each.

Your mission is to capture the excitement and creativity of the event you attended. Good luck!

Official Rules

1. Historic Hudson Valley invites you to attend The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze and/or Legend Nights, capture the event(s) on video, and publish your edited work on YouTube. Please note that for safety reasons, tripods and monopods are not allowed at Blaze or Legend. Cameras must be hand-held. Tickets are required for entry.

2. Elaborate special effects are not necessary. Winning videos will be no longer than three minutes in length and will best capture the creativity and excitement of The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze and Legend experience. Still photography can be part of the finished product. DO NOT COMBINE BOTH EVENTS IN ONE VIDEO. If you attend both events, you may submit a separate video for each.

3. Five iPod touch prizes will be given away: Four for winning Blaze videos, one for the winning Legend video. The published videos that in the view of Historic Hudson Valley's judges best achieve the contest goal will win an iPod touch, provided by WHUD.

4. Blaze Videos uploaded to YouTube must be tagged with "Halloween" "Pumpkin" "Great" "Jack" "O'Lantern" "Blaze" "Historic" "Hudson" "Valley" "Van" "Cortlandt" "Manor" and "Jack-o-lantern".

5. Legend videos uploaded to YouTube must be tagged with "Halloween" "Sleepy" "Hollow" "Legend" "Headless" "Horseman" "Philipsburg" and "Manor".

6. The name of the event ("The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze" or "Legend") and Historic Hudson Valley's website (www.hudsonvalley.org) must appear on-screen for at least 5 seconds.

7. After you upload your video, send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with a link to the video, your full name, and a phone number.

8. For Blaze, there will be four iPod touch prizes awarded. Each week's contest ends on Tuesday at midnight, beginning Oct. 13 meaning videos must be posted on YouTube by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday to be eligible for that prize. Winners will be announced on WHUD on the following Friday. The contest deadlines are Tuesday, Oct. 13, Tuesday, Oct. 20, Tuesday, Oct. 27, and Tuesday, Nov. 3. Winners will be notified by phone or e-mail.

9. For Legend, there will be one iPod prize awarded. The contest ends on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at midnight, meaning videos must be posted on YouTube by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday to be eligible. The winner will be announced on WHUD on Friday, Oct. 30. The winner will be notified by phone or e-mail.

10. Each video may only be entered once and individuals can only win one prize, even if they enter more than one video or attend more than one event. Limit one prize per household.
