From a Child's Perspective

3 West Sunnyside Lane
Tarrytown, NY 10591

Also July 9, 16, 23, 30 + Aug. 6, 13, 20, 27

Parents and children are invited to travel back to the 19th century and view the home of Washington Irving through a child’s eyes. Explore Sunnyside as a family home, and before or after your tour, play games, try on period clothing (photo-op!), and participate in hands-on-activities. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and make a day of it.

Theme for July 2: Independence Day

In preparation for the holiday weekend, come celebrate Independence Day at Sunnyside, 19th-century style! Enjoy a patriotic sing-a-long, stories, and crafts. Learn about Washington Irving’s role in American politics on a tour of the historic house, and pay tribute to the Founding Fathers by participating in a read-aloud of the Declaration of Independence. It wouldn’t be a holiday without games, so round out the day with field games. Try your luck at a three-legged race or see who can get to the end without dropping their egg!
