Plan of Proposed Alterations to-the-Property of Washington-Irving-Esquire-at-Tarrytown-River Front.
Calvin Pollard, watercolor and ink on paper, 1835. Even though there is no record that Irving engaged the prominent New York architect and draftsman
Calvin Pollard in the renovation of his cottage, this drawing of the river side, as well as one of the southern, or front, facade, and an accompanying floor plan suggests that Pollard was consulted at
the beginning of Irving's building project. They are dated the summer of 1835, soon after Irving had acquired the Van Tassel cottage. |
