You can visit Washington Irving's grave in the bucolic Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, just a few miles north of Sunnyside in the village of Sleepy Hollow. Complete details are online. Guided tours of the cemetery are available for a fee, charged by the cemetery. Self-guided visits by car or on foot are free. Maps are available at the cemetery office.
This remarkable and historic cemetery contains the graves of many American notables from many walks of life, including Andrew Carnegie, Walter Chrysler, Elizabeth Arden, William Rockefeller, and recently Harry and Leona Helmsley. The Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow is located adjacent to the cemetery, near historic Philipsburg Manor.
