Ingredients  
  • 3/4 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup and 1 teaspoon Cornmeal from the mill at historic Philipsburg Manor, Sleepy Hollow, NY
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Double acting baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons Cold unsalted butter
  • 6 tablespoons Half & Half



Instructions  
Mix together flour, 1/4-cup cornmeal, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add the butter which has been cut into small pieces and blend until you have a coarse mixture. It is best to do this with your hands. Add the half & half to the mixture and stir until doughy and sticky. Gather the dough and knead gently six to seven times on a floured surface. Roll out to a thickness of about 1/2" and cut out circles or desired shapes with a floured glass or cookie cutter. Place on ungreased sheet. Sprinkle with remaining cornmeal and bake at 450 degrees F. for about 12-15 minutes.
