My my, you Blaze Blog readers have been very active with comments of late. Must be getting close to October!
Several have asked about the artists involved in the event, Michael Natiello (Blaze creative director) in particular, and whether the artists will be exhibiting work at the event.
Well, the event itself is a large-scale work in and of itself, so I think that counts.
For those of you who might be curious about the non-pumpkin mediums Michael works in, I've got two cool examples to share, both of a theme, it seems. At left is "Wheel of Fortune" and on the right is "Untitled."

These are really far out and very different! Makes me wonder what some of the other artists are into. This event was so large last year it was obvious it took many talented people to put it together. You people rock! I'm in awe. Looking forward to this year.

I have a chrome bumper with the unique "cheese-grater" grill from a 1966 Plymouth Barracuda. I wonder if Mr. N. could work his magic and turn it into a masterpiece? I'll see you on the 20th. Look for my big pumpkin hat with the flashing orange lights.

i love how you use the waste of our society and turn it into beautiful works of art. bravo! we need more people like you on planet. the installation you made for the collaborative concepts project at saunders farm is a real masterpiece...everyone i show that to is in awe of what you have created there. thank you for your art!

Tin cans and other delights

Dr. Frankenblaze, I sure would be interested in meeting you and I never pass up an opportunity to create art from found objects--please look me up on the 20th when you're in town.
The tin can piece posted on the blog here is part of a body of work I call "garbage mandalas"...that one in particular is from a series called Mangia Mandalas--a homage to my Italian heritage and to DaVinci. The cans once held tomato puree and paste.
The other piece that blaze blogger has posted is currently on display in Garrison at an outdoor sculpture exhibit called "The Saunders Farm Project", put on by Collaborative Concepts -- another great Hudson Valley non-profit arts organizaton with which I'm closely affiliated. Check out the blog for the show and then see it in person: http://www.collaborativeconcepts2007.blogspot.com/

I am an avid collector of tin can art. The "untitled" work is amazing and Mr. Natello is truly a master. One of the walls in my garage is completely constructed of tin cans. This piece would really be a great addition to my collection. Does Mr. Natello do commission work? I have about 346 rusty cans in my utility shed that are just waiting to become art.

I must say those are mighty fine examples, round like most pumpkins! Were those empty cans in the "untitled/unlabled" piece once filled with pumpkin pie filling?
