The long-awaited results of the Blaze YouTube Video Contest are in. Competition was fierce and there were a number of outstanding entries, but the one entered by Dolores Spero and her father Allan Way was tops according to the judges. The pair will soon be the proud owners of a 42-inch Hitachi 1080i plasma television, a Toshiba 1080i HD DVD player, and a collection of classic Halloween DVDs, all courtesy of K104.7.

Great job folks!!

You can check out the winning entry here.

Good catch!

GG: Good catch on Vern. Looks like I neglected to include the "Meet the Carvers" tag on his entry. It's there now, so if you click on Meet the Carvers under "Tags," everybody, including Vern, comes up. Thanks!

I would like to express our thanks on winning The Blaze You Tube Contest. In addition to thanking the judges & those wishing us congrats, I would also like to thank the two gentlemen who helped me load up the TV into my SUV at Van Cortland Manor last week! It was my first time putting together a video like this, so it was a big thrill and honor to win, especially among so many fantastic entries. Thanks again and we look forward to the Blaze again next year!
Okay, I'm biased

Okay, I'll admit it -- I'm biased because I entered a video. smilies/smiley.gif

I used the natural sounds from the visit (ie: the music you hear, the sounds of kids [and parents] ooh'ing and ah'ing) rather than an "artificial" soundtrack which I don't think captured the atmosphere nor fit the mood.

That said, I'll fully admit that, finding out only a week before the deadline, having only 5 days to edit my video while still working full-time and taking care of my family, plus never having used any video editing software before, I certainly could have done a better job. (Though it still would have been nice to win.)

I hope they do this again next year. It was lots of fun (I was able to go twice -- one for the video, and one with the whole family), and I'll be ready next year.. (Membership has its privileges, as they say.) Watch out.
Wonderful Video & Great Event

We loved our trip to the Blaze this year and thought the winning video was great. Guess Vern missed the dino - it's in there! It must have been hard for the judges - it took them a lot longer to decide on the winner than expected. There were some really good videos in the contest - some a little hokey - but this one gave you an idea of what to expect, and didn't give it all away which made us want to check it out in person. And we're glad we did - The Blaze was Great! Happy Halloween!!
Where's Dino????

Why are the dinosaurs not in the winning video? They were the most amazing part of the exhibit. smilies/cry.gif

Well, apparently we have some professional film critics or directors out there! There there can only be one winner, and the judges have spoken. Can't we just be happy for the winner, acknowledge their work and get on with life?
Great video! Hope ours is as good!

I cannot say enough about our entire weekend in Sleepy Hollow! We came to see the Blaze this past Sunday, and my husband and I were just blown away by the effort and skill of the carvers, and just how beautifully spooky everything was. We were so happy that we came up to see everything, and it was by far one of the best "Halloween" weekends we have ever had! Rest assured we will be talking it up to everyone we know, and we will be back to have more fun with you guys as soon as we can! We simply cannot thank everone enough for the wonderful events that they put together!

There were several other videos that were better. This was one of the first one's up and those that followed were better produced and more entertaining... I'm pretty disappointed HHV...

Not my favourite video of the contest, its ok but I feel like some middle eastern dancing will pop up out of the pumpkins..

Does not go at all, out of theme of the video.
