Blaze YouTube Video Contest winner #4

It definitely took a bit longer for the judges to pick the winner in the final week of the Blaze YouTube Video Contest. Not only were there a large number of entries, there were a large number of outstanding entries, making it very hard to pick the topmost auteur during the final weekend of Blaze.

Those honors, however, go to Christopher Davis, who took a very cool approach to the contest, turning in a mock movie trailer for the Blaze. He takes home an iPod touch, courtesy of WHUD [...]

Round 3 of the Blaze YouTube Video Contest is in the history books. The judges report this week's competition was the toughest yet, but, after careful deliberation, the honors - and the iPod, courtesy of WHUD Radio - goes to Jerry Stephens.

Scary stuff out on DVD

The classic tale of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow continues to inspire creative types nearly 200 years since Washington Irving penned it. Now, the latest film to pay horror homage is released on DVD today by First Look Studios. Entitled Headless Horseman (obviously these folks wanted to cut right to the chase, literally), it debuted in theaters last October.

Sargeant captures cooking, open-hearth style

Ken Sargeant is a Croton-based videographer and HHV fan. Van Cortlandt Manor is a Croton historical site - and its staff is a big fan of Ken!

Recently he visited Historic Hudson Valley food historian Lavada Nahon as she was preparing a meal in VCM's reproduction open-hearth kitchen, capturing it on video and posting a snippet of the results on YouTube.

The long-awaited results of the Blaze YouTube Video Contest are in. Competition was fierce and there were a number of outstanding entries, but the one entered by Dolores Spero and her father Allan Way was tops according to the judges. The pair will soon be the proud owners of a 42-inch Hitachi 1080i plasma television, a Toshiba 1080i HD DVD player, and a collection of classic Halloween DVDs, all courtesy of K104.7.

YouTube winner will be announced Monday

I've just learned that Historic Hudson Valley will be announcing the winner of the Blaze YouTube Video Contest on Monday. The talented winning videographer will be receiving a 42-inch flat screen TV, high def DVD player and a bunch of DVDs, courtesy of K104.7. Not a bad haul considering he/she also got to check out the Blaze!

The judges were pretty thrilled with the quality of the entries and are taking a few more days to decide. But, Monday I'm told will be the official [...]

Flashback: Blaze 2006 on the airwaves

I recently unearthed yet another video on YouTube featuring The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze 2006. This one is culled from a news report that appeared on RNN-TV, but it doesn't have any call letters or text, just the video feed. Nonetheless, it's worth a viewing just to catch a glimpse of the event's creative director sporting a fab (and fitting) shade of orange.

Calling all Deadheads (Blaze 2006 on YouTube, redux)

Take 3,000 hand-carved pumpkins, mix them with "Werewolves of London" being covered by The Grateful Dead, spin the images this way and that, and you have the beginnings of a clever YouTube video, as Tim Duquette shows us.

No dancing bears but there are dancing skeletons.

Personally, I prefer Warren Zevon's classic, but the Dead do have a certain charm. Pumpkins, of course, are always charming. Check it out and let me know what ya think.
