Summerweek Day Camp

Philipsburg Manor
Monday, July 06, 2009
to July 10, 2009

At Summerweek History Day Camp (ages 9 - 11), children have fun while experiencing the daily life of the 18th and 19th-century. Camp counselors are experienced educators and make the camp a fun and educational experience. Enrollment begins in March and space is limited.

At Philipsburg Manor's camp, step back in time to when the Philipse family owned most of Westchester County and enslaved Africans and European tenant farmers worked this commercial plantation. Kids get to play the role of merchant while they learn about colonial-era commerce, examine food production and horticulture, assist the miller and learn about our heritage breed farm animals. Activities like churning butter, making stone soup, and fishing in the Pocantico River make this a special week of camp.
