Bill Angresano is a new member of Historic Hudson Valley, but a longtime visitor and creative documentarian of Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow.

An illustrator by career, Mr. Angresano has been painting the landscape at Philipsburg Manor since the 80s!

Born in Englewood, N.J., he attended Rutgers State University and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After toiling away in the corporate world for a while, he began studying with painters and launched a successful career as an illustrator.

A fine artist for the last 25 years, Mr. Angresano said he is ever thankful for being able to paint the natural world that inspires him. Landscape, figurative works, and portrait and genre paintings make up the body of his work.

He's received numerous accolades, including the Salmagundi Club's Best Landscape award, the Frank Vincent Dumond Award for excellence in Portraiture, the Knickerbockers Artists Honorable Mention for Portraiture, and the Ogden Pleissner Memorial Award for Watercolor. His artwork can be found in the Boxing Hall of Fame, the Bergen County Museum of Arts and Science, and most recently the Natural World Museum in California along with numerous corporate and private collections.

Here are two outstanding examples of his Philipsburg Manor canvases, as well as a portrait of the artist at work (above right).
