ArtsWestchester's Free Arts Day -- Sunday, December 4, 2011

Free Arts Day is now a Westchester holiday season tradition. Each year in early December, art and culture lovers of all ages are welcomed at sites throughout the county as organizations offer free admissions to their museums, arts centers, and historical sites while hosting music, storytelling, and dance performances including workshops for every taste.

Historic Hudson Valley has been a long-time particiapant in ArtsWestchester's Free Arts Day. Come enjoy FREE regular house tours on Sunday, Decemeber 4 at Washington Irving's Sunnyside (10am-4pm), Philipsburg Manor (10am-4pm), Van Cortlandt Manor (10am-4pm), and the Union Church of Pocantico Hills (2-4pm).

Show Your Support for the Arts in Westchester: It's urgent, please act now!

You may have heard that the Westchester County Executive has proposed a 50% cut to arts funding in his 2012 budget. This will have a big impact on organizations including Historic Hudson Valley, which has already seen funding cuts in recent years. It will also reduce ArtsWestchester's capacity to market our historic sites and programs.

The Board of Legislators can add -- and delete -- items before they approve the budget. We have a small window of time to convince them to restore funding for the arts. But we need your help. Please let the County Executive and Board of Legislators know you want them to continue to support arts and culture in Westchester. We've made it easy for you to contact them: just click here, enter your zip code and the email address of the County Executive and of your Representative will automatically populate, along with an appropriate message.

Thank you in advance for your support. And please share this link with friends, family, and colleagues.
